I was trying to follow the footsteps of Seth Godin in not using Twitter like everybody else, but in this age of social networking - not being on Twitter means I'm losing a lot of opportunities. Is it really necessary for freelancers? I just find Linkedin more useful in connecting with businesses and professionals.

Twitter is a major free PR tool.. so I'd say YES.. as it makes it easier and faster to connect with prospects. Tweet Tweet and away!

I think I can both leverage Twitter and LinkedIn. Facebook for me is something personal, unless I start creating my Facebook Page. Thanks!
