I just switched from your regular 9-5 job to online freelancing. I didn't think competition can be this tough, especially when you are competing with the world. How can someone new survive and become a successful freelancer? |

Regardless of what you've heard about freelancing, it is tough... but so is life, in general. This is where your preparation, persistence and passion - or the 3P's of freelancing, will take you to the road of success. There are plenty of sites out there where you can read about the realities of freelancing and how to get started. Online freelancing means you are in competition with the rest of the world and just when you feel like another number in the algorithm of things, how do you stand out? This is where the art of personal branding comes in. There's a freelancer blood in you that made you switch careers because you would love to take control of your professional life and go on the path of entrepreneurship. All you have to do is: BELIEVE. Start with: What are you good at? Then, search for ways to become great at what you're good at. You can be a prolific writer, a creative artist and so on... just stick to one specialty and do an awesome job. Wow your prospects with your portfolio and if you don't have one, start building one right now. Besides, all of us have started as newbies... and after a few years of full-time freelancing, we just turned out fine. If we can do it, so can you! |
