I've been freelancing for more than six months and I want to take a vacation. How do I tell my clients? |

This is more than just a call of etiquette and good manners really count here. You need to have a lead time so your client won't get ambushed with your quick decision to pamper yourself somewhere ( and go off the grid ). Be honest and tell your clients of when you're about to go on a vacation. Make sure that you're willing to make up for lost time when you come back from vacation or before you leave. If you work in a team, inform everyone about it. Last, don't forget to tell your clients of your communication lines, whether you'll be replying to emails while on leave, or if you're totally cut off from the net for the duration of your vacation. Personally, a good lead time to inform clients would be 2-3 weeks before your planned date. |
