Here's the way I do it:

  1. Make a list of all things you need to get done.
  2. Start with the top item, and set a timer for 5-10 minutes. Work on it till the timer runs out, and then reset the timer and start to work on the next item. Don't skip an item, and don't spend more than the alloted time each time.
  3. Take a 5 minute break after every hour, and a 15 minute break after every 3 hours.
  4. Repeat till you start crossing off things from your list.

This technique works because it forces your brain to think of each task as a 'quick-thing', and not something that is going to take a long time to do. Because if you keep thinking that you need to do task A, but it will take you several hours, and you just don't have that time right now, you'll never get it done.

I think this reminds me of this game show... and it can be exciting, especially for those who are an adrenaline junkie.

The biggest question of them all from time immemorial and many have asked..but we're left with vague answers. I guess, beating procrastination starts with a simple question: What inspires you? This question will help you get creative ideas to help you leap beyond the murky pool of procrastination so you can become the most productive freelancer around.

Disclaimer: Not all types of procrastination are bad; some can be good for you. Ever heard of structured procrastination? It's the art of making procrastination work for you and that means making up deadlines or doing the most difficult task first ( and so on ).
