What Separates a Visionary from the Freelancing Crowd
What drives you? Often times, I ask myself what motivates me to freelance this long, especially when I’m having a brain dump. Sometimes, you can’t stop wondering if freelancing will fade away once the economy rebounds. If you wake up each day feeling new, bold, inspired and creative – congratulate yourself! You have what it takes to leap from successful freelancing to becoming a visionary in a league of your own. You have a higher purpose and you know it. It runs in your blood, calling you to challenge yourself to the edge of your limitations. You are inspired to put your dreams into reality and you’re itching to share this goal, to make a difference as you cast your eyes on the horizon ahead.
Online job scams run a plenty these days and one can only check any freelancer’s forum to view an endless stream of rants. The Web has become not only a venue for finding out information, for hunting down job leads – but it is now a playground for scammers. For the unwary freelancer, stepping on the landmine of scam can mean not only financial woes; there’s also the legal trouble. Those who use online job sites must be very careful because that dream job can turn out to be a fraud. When waves of layoff pushes families across the globe to find new sources of income, you have to keep your guard up against potential scams. The trouble is: How Can You Spot One? 
Aristotle once said that to avoid criticism, you must say nothing, do nothing and be nothing… and yet, people will still judge you no matter what. Still, there are times when you feel that you’re unreasonably criticized; your confidence level plunging down to zero and beyond. Freelancers in the creative field know well the sting of criticism – from those who don’t like their work to those who think you’re simply bad. In fact, it doesn’t really matter whatever your job is as you will always have to face the positive and negative aspects of life. To be criticized is an inevitability. Do you keep your defenses up or do you take it too subjectively? 
If you feel like you’re hitting a dead end with your freelancing career or project, don’t fret. You’re not alone. Finding an innovative solution to your problem is more often easier said than done, and you have to think smarter.. especially when it’s your reputation and earnings at stake. For the gifted few, creativity comes like the oxygen they breathe and for some, it is a luxury. But to solve problems creatively and quickly is an essential skill these days, and your survival as a freelancer depends a lot on it.
