Should You Outsource Your Social Media?

Having an online business is a tough work.  That’s a fact!  From making sure your site is up-to-date to endless streams of emails and phone calls, running your company on the web is time-consuming.  When getting viral is the big thing that turns beta sites into an overnight success, there is just an urgent call to invest in social networking.  Unlike traditional word-of-mouth advertising, your online business needs a social media presence as part of its marketing strategy.  Should you do it yourself or hire someone to work for your social media campaign?

You may not want to shell out a dime to spend for a social media person.  Instead of thinking of it as a cost, think of someone as an asset.  Your social media assistant can be your point person, someone who organizes leads for you on the web and how to interact with them – which means minus 80 percent of work at your end.  If you’re too busy to get things done yourself, outsourcing your social media work will truly help.

5 Reasons Why You Should Outsource Your Social Media Marketing

1.  You get things done quickly.
2.  You get expert advises you can do yourself later.
3.  You get to access your outsourced team’s social networks.
4.  You can create a stronger brand for yourself.
5.  You can brainstorm with the experts on the best strategy for your viral campaign.

How Do You Find the Right Person to Outsource Your Social Media Plan?

1.  Know What You Want

You must define what your social media plan is: from getting thousands of followers in your social networks, posting top-notch blogs and ezines optimized for the web, getting quality links, video sharing, to doing social bookmarking.  By having a clear goal, you can get a person with the right skills to do the job.

2.  Check Their Rep

What’s the point of working as a social media marketer when you have zero reputation on the web?  Check out their Facebook or Twitter accounts to see it they’re implementing their skills to their own.

3.  Hire an Expert

You may run an office where you can simply delegate the task to your in-house staff, but if you compute the cost-to-benefit ratio of doing that, you’d better be off in outsourcing the task to someone who knows how to do the job well.

4.  Read the Testimonials

Social media marketing takes lots of work and getting your page ranked #1 is always a work in progress.  This is why it’s important to get feedback from someone’s clients before you hire that person.

5.  Beware of Cons

There are plenty of phony on the web flashing the words ‘guru’ or ‘expert.’  If someone can’t even take the time to talk with you about your plans, expectations, or questions – you might as well go to the next name on your list.

Seeing is believing!  Keep these words in mind when outsourcing your social media marketing.  Results on previous works will speak for itself.

Thanks for the great read. I would just like to point out that although it would be preferable for companies to maintain conversations in the social media sphere within the company, most of the time, this does not happen. It could be because of lack of time, manpower, etc. Would that then mean that the company can just forget about engaging their community through conversations? It shouldn’t. Social media engagement, although not a primary requirement for a business to function, is also very beneficial. Thus, in cases where companies are not able to manage their own conversations, this is where outsourcing can come in. It is not the idea of outsourcing that would be an issue. Outsourcing to someone several miles away versus someone else with in your company is still not you. What is vital is exercising proper guidelines and maintaining effective communication to ensure that your social media engagement remains effective. For us (we are an outsourcing company: Infinit-O), the question is not whether you should outsource, but who should be your outsourcing partner. That’s just my two cents on that. Kudos!
